go through “经历”。
in one’s shoes “站在……的立场上”、 “设身处地”。

evaluation “评价”。
serve ... right “给……应有的报应”。习惯用语， 表示“活该”、 “ 自作自受”。

He deserved it.

（他工于心计是出了名的。）

（是真的吗？）
reputation “名声”、 “名气”。wheeler-dealer 常带有轻蔑的含义， 指“ （生意或政治上）为所欲为的
人”、 “工于心计者”。
He’s known as a wheeler-dealer.
（他工于心计是众所周知的。）
He’s a wheeling-dealing businessman.
（他是一个工于心计的商人。）
他同时干很多事情。
He has many irons in the fire.
（他同时干很多事情。）
He’s always been that way.
（他总是那个样子。）
have many irons in the fire是习惯用语， 表示“同时做很多的事情”。直译是“他把很多的铁放入火中”。
He has a lot of things going on.
He’s involved in many things.
be involved in ... “卷入……”。
不是因为他聪明， 而是因为他勤奋。

successful “成功的”。
smart “聪明的”。diligent “勤奋的”。
It’s due to his diligence, not his intelligence.
due to ... “ 由于……”。diligence “勤奋”、 “努力”。intelligence “智力”。
He is more diligent than smart.
（他勤奋多过聪明。）
He isn’t so smart, but he is diligent.
（他并不怎么聪明， 但是很勤奋。）
