in the middle of the…在……中间
当某个动作发生在一段时间的中间点时，通常都用in the middle of来表示。
He was sleeping in the middle of the day．
正午时分时，他正在睡觉。
other than that…除了……以外
“除此以外”是为了强调短语之前提到的事项的特殊性。
I broke every bone in my body,but other than that I'm alright.
我摔断了身体各处的骨头，除此以外，我一切安好。

当某个情况已经发生，而我们想要询问他人曾设法采取什么行动时，通常会使用这个句型。

Jerry:Good moming,Tom,did you have a good night's sleep?

Tom:In the middle of the night there was some heavy banging from upstairs; but other than that, I got plenty of rest.
汤姆：半夜时楼上传来很大的碰撞声，除此以外，我休息得挺充分的。
Jerry:How did you manage to sleep? Did you complain to the ffont desk?
杰瑞：那你怎么睡得着？去跟前台抱怨了吗？
Tom:Well,it was for only about three minutes so I figured it wasn't a big deal.

Jerry:I See,and have you had breakfast yet?

Tom:Yes,I have. It was a very nice spread at the breakfast table.

Jerry :That's good because it might be a while until lunch.

Tom:That is no problem! I'm ready for a busy schedule.
