Part One Showing a Guest to the Room
(FA = Floor Attendant, G = Guest)
FA: Good morning, sir and madam, welcome to Nanjing Hotel.
G: Good morning, are you a room attendant?
FA: Yes, I am.
G: Where is Room 908, please?
FA: It is along here. May I show you to your room, Mr and Mrs White?
G: Yes, please. Here is our room key. Oh, by the way, how do you know our names?
FA: It was on the arrival list for Room 908. May I help you with your suitcases, Mrs White?
G: No, thanks. I can manage it.
FA: This way, please. (After a while) Here we are. After you. (The FA opens the door, they enter the room.)
G: Thank you. When will our baggage arrive?
FA: The bellman will take it up soon.
G: Very well. (The bellman comes with the baggage and knocks at the door.)
B: May I come in? Your baggage is here.
G: (Opening the door) Oh, good. Come in, please.
B: Three pieces altogether. Is that correct?
G: Yes, thank you.
B: You are welcome.
Part Two Explaining Room Facilities
FA: (Graciously) Your room is facing the garden. It's very quiet. I hope you will like it.
M: Yes, we will. The room looks very nice.
FA: Mr and Mrs White, here is the light switch, the wardrobe, and the mini-bar.
M: Wonderful!
FA: Here is the master switch. Please be sure to insert the keyboard into its slot, otherwise the power will be cut. This is the temperature control. You may adjust it as you like. And the panel on the nightstand controls the different devices in the room. By the way, there're two sockets in the bathroom, for 110V and 220V respectively, the voltage here is much higher than that in the U.S.A……
W: Oh, I can use my electric shaver. And I feel like taking a bath to freshen up after the trans-ocean flight. And how can we make an outside call?
FA: If you want to make an outside call, please dial “0” first. There is a telephone directory on the writing desk. You may read it.
W: What about the TV?
FA: This is the remote control. There are sixteen channels including three English programs and two Japanese programs. Here is a program list. Well, is there anything I can do before I leave the room?
M: You've made us feel very welcome. By the way, is the tap water drinkable?
FA: Oh, Mr and Mrs White, please don't drink the tap water unless it is boiled. And there are two bottles of drinking water in the bathroom, free of charge. If you need anything else, please dial 8. We're always at your service.
B: Thank you.
FA: You're always welcome. I hope you will enjoy your stay with us.

(A = Attendant, G = Guest)
A: Good morning, sir. What can I do for you?
G: Yes. Can you show me how to use the safe in my room? I'll go to Beijing on business for two days and I want to keep some documents in it while I'm away.
A: Certainly, sir. If you want to use the safe, please go to the service center first and fill out a signature card, then the clerk there will give you an activation pin.
G: Activation pin? What's the use of it?
A: Once you get the pin, please plug in and open the door of the safe, insert the pin, then “OPEN” will be indicated on the door.
G: How do I lock the safe?
A: After “OPEN” is shown, you must input a six-digit cipher code and the safe will be locked when closed. And “LOCK” will be indicated, then you can set the code arbitrarily.
G: How do I open it when I come back?
A: Just put in the cipher code and open the safe after it is decoded. If you keep the code unchanged, the safe will be locked automatically when the door is closed.
G: Can other people open it?
A: Unless they know the code. The safe will not unlock if you put in the wrong code, and it will show “ERROR”。
G: Well, it's very safe.
A: I think so. But be sure not to forget the code you set. In that case, you have to contact the service center and ask the clerk to open it for you.
G: 0h, I see. Thank you very much indeed.
A: It's my pleasure. One more thing, if you stop using the safe, please remove the activation pin and return it to the service center.
G: Sure. Thank you again. Good-bye.
A: Good-bye, sir. Wish you a pleasant journey.
