How to Create a Media Correspondent Resume On behalf of tvlesson.com. Athena Reich: Hi, my name is Athena Reich and I'm an Actress/Singer/Songwriter/Host and Teaching Artist, athenareich.com. In this clip on how to be a media correspondent, I'm going to talk about resumes. Now, on the back of your professional headshot, you need to staple or glue or print your resume. Now, I'm also an actress, so this is set up being an actress and a correspondent. I have my theater section, I have my TV, film and radio section and here's where I have my hosting section, which I combine with comedy and music because cast directors are looking for host. They would like to call me back and I'm not a 100% on being a host, so I have to combine some things. But your resume might just be all hosting, and that might be your focus, and that’s fantastic. Here, resume needs to be clean, they need to be ordered. The standard way is that you have on the left here, you have the name of the show, so I was on Springer on the radio and here you have what you did, and I was a political art host. And here you have more information, it was on Air America Radio and it was with Jerry Springer. You can name drop here. You can look at examples online, but what's important is that it's organized and professional. I'm going to talk about the importance of creating outlines for your story. So you’ve done your research, you found that interesting corky human angle. Now, is the time to create a bit of an outline or script, a story line. Now, this can completely change. This, for example is an outline that I created for a story. So you know, do the work and create an outline. You're going to see – let's say your going to interview Madonna, so think, first, I'm going to talk, I'm now inside Madonna’s apartment, this is where she lives, that’s going to be the beginning. And then, I'm walking up Madonna’s staircase. Wow! What a regular staircase, who would have thought Madonna would live here? And so you could make this outline, and be prepared to be spontaneous to just throw your outline out the window when you meet the person you're interviewing because – or the situation to cover, it might completely threw you off guard, and be able to be spontaneous, but have that outline prepared, in case the person is completely boring and give you nothing. And you’ve got to have something to work from. And then after I got off Madonna’s staircase, I'm going to film her in her work and see how she works and then I'm going to do a little captain in the end outside of her apartment. Again, there you go, there's an outline. Create that outline, be organized, you can't be too organized, never.
